Ruhiang/Kiulu Adventure Challenge

An exciting obstacle challenge set against the stunning backdrop of Tamparuli and Kiulu. This two-day event will have adventure enthusiasts crossing rivers, running, cycling and even have a go at the traditional slingshot! 2 February 15th City Day Celebration

7 February Chinese New Year Assembly of Dragons, Unicorns & Lions 2015

Since 1976, The United Sabah Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu has been the only organising body of Chinese New Year Assembly of Dragons, Unicorn & Lions which also processes the longest history in Sabah. The aim of this activity is to promote Chinese Culture and Tourist Attraction. More than 60 dance troupes will put on a dazzling display of agility, grace and choreography as we celebrate the Lunar New Year.

March Kota Kinabalu City Tourism Treasure Hunt 2015

The KK City Tourism Treasure Hunt is an annual event held in conjunction with the City Day Celebration. Anticipated by treasure seekers across the nation each year, they search the city high and low for clues and 'treasures' while getting to know Kota Kinabalu. The hunt will bring them to the city's historical landmarks and favourite tourist attractions. Teams gather their wits and stamina as they drive around the city in search of clues and treasures. Everyone is welcome to join the hunt with attractive prizes to be won.

The "Sleep Over & Night Safari at the Museum"

Program 2 (two) in 1 (a) is designed to provide an enjoyable experience for visitors, especially in the heritage Village Museum. Visitors take the opportunity to see and experience the atmosphere and activities in traditional houses as well as overnight events at the museum. In addition, participants have the opportunity to do activities such as "bird watching" while experiencing nature in Garden Ethnobotanical Sabah Museum.

The Championship is held in conjunction with the City's 15th anniversary. Various karate organisations from Sabah and all over Malaysia are expected to participate in this annual event, with participation from school children and adults. April Tagal Nature River Fish Cultivating

Fancy something more unique than your average spa? Then head on to Tagal Tinopikon Park in Kampung Notorus, Penampang for a fish massage session! In the local KadazanDusun dialect, 'tagal' means 'no fishing', and the main purpose of the 'tagal' is to prevent overfishing and preserve the environment as well as the ecosystem to benefit the future generation.

3 - 5 April Sabah Adventure Challenge Race/Ultra Trail Run 2015

The award winning 16th annual Sabah Adventure Challenge ultra-trail run and adventure race will see competitors covering 100km-50km over a 3-day period in this dawn to dusk event in the heart of Sabah. Competitors can choose to race as a duo in the adventure race category (mountain biking/trail running/tire tubing) or the full-fledged ultra-trail run (solo) through some of the most scenic parts of Sabah.

23 - 26 April Sabah International Fishing Tournament

Time to head out to sea and hook that big one! The Sabah International Fishing Tournament attracts anglers from all around as they head off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in search of record-sized game fish. The tournament is governed by the local and International Game Fish Association (IGFA) rules.

24 - 26 April Regatta Lepa Semporna

The Regatta Lepa is an annual event that pays homage to the Lepa, a traditional single-mast sailing boat of the Bajau of Semporna. A floatilla of colourful boats dot the Celebes Sea as they compete for the title of ' Most Beautiful Lepa'. The celebration continues with various cultural performances, the Lepa Beauty Pageant, cultural performances, fireworkds display as well as traditional and contemporary sports and games.

24 April 'Lest We Forget Run'

This annual event starts with a 2-kilometer symbolic run around the city centre and ends at the ANZAC Memorial Monument at Jalan Tugu, in front of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall building. A wreath-laying ceremony is then held to commemorate the fallen heroes of World War II. The run also aims to promote the spirit of ANZAC and to remind us of the contribution and sacrifices of local heroes during the war.

25 April Traditional Kadazan Mock Wedding Exhibition

Witness the traditions, customs and rituals of a traditional KadazanDusun wedding at Monsopiad Cultural Village in Penampang. The highlight of the ceremony is the 'Miohon Pinisi' a sacred ritual usually conducted by a high priestess or older. As in any wedding, a grand feast is served and merry-making follows suit.

May Kota Kinabalu City Harvest Festival

They Kaamatan (Harvest) festival is celebrated as a thanksgiving in honour of the Bambaazon (rice spirit) for a good harvest by the KadazanDusun and Murut communities in Sabah. This is the city-level Kaamatan celebration which include highlights such as the famous Harvest Beauty Pageant or the Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Queen beauty pageant), Sugandoi (singing) competition featuring Kadazaandusun songs, traditional food and drinking competition, local food tasting and many more. All are welcome to join the city folks in the merriment, Sabahan style!

May RT Bukit Permai Mountain Bike Challenge 2015

First introduced in 2010, the Bukit Permai Menggatal neighbouring community together with the Sabah Cycling Association bring you this annual mountain-biking event held in Kampung Bukit Permai Menggatal. The competition will be divided into four main categories for men, women, veteran and junior cyclists. Categories include XCO Men's Open Elite, XCC Men's Open, XCC Men's Master, XCC Men's Junior, and XCC Women's open.

3 May Wesak Day

On this day, Buddhists observe the birth, enlightenment and passing of Lord Buddha. Religious offerings and rituals such as 'bathing of the Buddha', chanting of holy scriptures, lighting of joss sticks and ordination of monks usually take place in Buddhist temples. Come nightfall, there will be grand processions in cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Seremban, Melaka and Georgetown.

3 May 8th Borneo International Marathon (BIM)

The Borneo International Marathon is held along the scenic coastal roads of Kota Kinabalu with three distances - 10km, 21km and 42km. This will be the 8th edition of the BIM, also dubbed, 'The Beautiful Run'.

This month-long Harvest Festival celebration will culminate at Hongkod Koisaan, the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Hall in Penampang.
